Syntax And Language Variation

Typology is the branch of linguistics dedicated to classifying languages according to structural aspects. Research in this area is often interesting for its own sake, but linguists working within a specific language also draw on conclusions from typology to help guide or support their research. This workshop will constitute a basic introduction to syntax typology, covering language similarities and syntactic classifications. It is designed to be accessible and open to participants without experience with syntax or extensive linguistic training.
